Maybe dusting off some dust or unblocking breathing if you have a lot of things on top of your gear can help.
I imagine you have a bit of a knack for computer things. There is software to check the temperature that can be useful if you are going to get to work.

I use hwmonitor to check the temperature of the components. You can then check with the manufacturer to see if you are okay or need to do some maintenance. ;)

Oh i know i need maintenance even without this hwmonitor of yours or manufacturer(its like 12 years old so). Laptop went from running Skyrim with 200 mods to barely handling ancient games. After years of this shit and i can instantly hear when something is too much for it...
