1) High demand for a random board with flags
2) To try to curb a lot of the retardation on /pol/
Nevertheless, the board culture itself has strayed far from the original intent and most /pol/dditors have been chased away. Yet, years later the mods and jannies are STILL trying to force /pol/dditors to use this board. We used to attempt to prevent it by spamming all of their imported threads (imptrash) so they would get triggered and leave, but it seems that the impression this board has left on them is enough for them to avoid it altogether and they typically peace out the second a thread gets moved.
