The entire show is like if you combined wuxia literature and a mishmash of Wild West, European medieval and Chinese dynasty and sci-fi settings with a goofy 80s era Happy Tomino-esque mecha plot played entirely straight.
The show is dumb and rolls with it sincerely, you get to watch an old man take down giant robots with his bare hands for no reason beyond the director thinking it looks cool.
