well i think there were a lot of scenarios this arc that relied on her but i don't think there necessarily had to be. i feel there were plenty of chapters even after manbagi was introduced where they were making plenty of progress. could've gone the direction of relying on the meddling of sasaki, katou, and hitomi more instead for example
i feel all the things i said about naijimi being a lovable bulldozer also apply to hitomi
