>>12659076Common jaw malformation is "usually" not related to your ancestry but rather due to a knock on effect of not breathing properly and poor mouth posture over a long period of time (1 year or more).
The natural way to breath is through your nose which results in a normal development of the face. People who have issues nasal breathing (either because of some sort of natural malformation of the nasal passage or because of chronic nasal blockage from allergy/disease.) will be forced to mouth breath which disrupts mouth posture.
Normal mouth posture is as follows;
>jaw shut>upper and lower teeth in alignment>tongue suction pressed up against the roof of mouth>head properly aligned to spineThe jaw being shut is to keep the jaw muscles strong and able to form the bone of the jaw over time. The teeth being in alignment while the jaw is shut allows for them to keep each other in relative position to each other. The key part is Tongue position, by having it against the roof of the mouth the powerful muscle that is your tongue deforms the top jaw over time keeping it a certain shape. Finally the neck posture with your head and spine trains the muscles of your neck to keep your airways open resulting in less issues with breathing through the nose.
Mouth breathing disrupts all this by keeping the mouth open, separating the upper and lower teeth and removing the tongue from the roof of the mouth. Also Mouth breathing over a long period of time can worsen your nasal breathing by weakening the muscle structure of your nose from disuse resulting in restricted air ways.
Luckily for most people it is fixable as the bones in your jaw do not completely solidify in shape till around old age (60~ IIRC). Just fix whatever is stopping you from breath correctly and stick to the 4 points above and in about a year or so you should get some results. You can of course bypass this hassle of time by getting surgery on the jaw but that doesn't solve the underlying cause.
