I remember when I was a kid, all school closed for full month during ramadan. so after suhoor we went to park or intersection when there's still few traffic to play firecracker. many adults made their own. it's pretty much IED. those half a meter high firecracker. it blown like a bomb. I could feel the strong shockwave from 50 meter away. it wrapped with thick newspaper. so entire street full of shredded newspaper every morning. the night also very lively. considered my hometown was a small city back then. there's a lot of activity. nowadays pass 10pm cops patrolling around demanding an id and questioning kids who are still outside. covid pretty much killed the remnant of this tradition. it's so boring now. tv also boring, there's used to be a lot of ramadan only show. thanks to internet I guess.
