Alchemy and Chemistry used to be seen as one.
They come from the same word Al-Chemiya, which means "the science of khem (Egypt)".
I think physical Alchemy is somewhat of a psuedo-science, but spiritual/psychological Alchemy is real. And you can definitely change your personality and self for the better using it.

I havent read much spiritual alchemy but it sounds based. im reading about the history of grimories these days. a book by owen davies. egypt have so much influence in alchemy and magic its crazy. if i remember right moses learned magic from the egyptians. hmm im reading about grimories but i havent found a good grimoire yet and it seems a bit hard to. i dont want to read wicca larp either when reading about occult stuff

It's contested historically speaking, whether it was the Egyptians or Sumerians/Chaldeans who came up with Magic first.
21st century western occultists have a view that all these Ancient rites and rituals were simply methods to alter your subconscious mind, A somewhat of a Proto-Psychology. And that these "evil spirits" were simply aspects of yourself that you needed to over come. Modern western occultism relies heavily on Jewish mysticism and Kabbalah.
I recommend "A Garden of Pomegranates" By Israel Regardie, Also "The middle pillar" also by Israel Regardie, these are two good introductory texts to Occultism, even has some practical exercises if you want to try some.

Quoting from teh book im reading has a lot of interesting things. Clerics in the past could also keep grimories since they could be used to banish demons and so on. But usually the bible was the main grimoire they used.

You can try the books that was recommended to me by Saudi Anon. I am too. Initially I was interested in Astral projection becuase I experience a lot of sleep paralyses. Which is the initial stage to engage into Astral projection. I only managed to get my legs out though. Then further from that I got interested in chakras, but there is a lot of crappy material on it. Then unto the occult and alchemy. Alchemy which was suggested to me by someone who is good at astral projection.

it was actually a trip to discover that so many of the words which start with al came from Arabic but it makes sense in retrospect. alchemy, algebra, alcohol, algorithm, al-quaeda, etc

Ah thanks for saying I'm nice anon. Oh with the sleep paralyses thing you can still fight the demons. By imagining hurting them in some way. I heard about christians calling out to Jesus helping get rid of sleep paralyses. I don't get afraid anymore though and just use it as a oppertunity to get a out of body experience. Oh and another thing if you are interested you can get very vivid lucid dreams through sleep paralyses if you ever wanted to do that.

Yeah a long time ago I was able to fend off demons by imagining flames around me. I didn't get to see any flames, but I heard sizzling noise as if I was burning jet fuel. These days when I get sleep paralyses nothing haunts me anymore lol. Well when you get lucid dreams you can fall into sleep paralyses. So oppisite is possible. Many people actually try to get sleep paralyses on purpose to get to lucid dream. I think you have to imagine a dreamscape and ignore your body. When I got my first lucid dream I was too aware of my body I think so I ended up getting a sleep paralyses.

Forgot to mention. When you are in sleep paralyses the world around you is very sensitive to how you feel. So if you feel scared things that are scary will happen. The world around you bend easier.

The most important thing to do is have a dream journal. It will make your dreams more vivid you will remember them better. Makes it easier to be aware in your dreams for some reason. You can also do a lot of reality checks at day so you do them in your dream. You might have a few fake lucid dreams until you get a real one so don't be disapointed if that happens. It means you probably are close to lucid dreaming. I still kinda suck at it though, but this is from what I read and learned from the internet and a bit of my own experience.
