I don’t mean some purple haired college student, I mean why does the straight white guy in his 30s that plays video games and watches Rick and Morty support trans people? I think it’s simple, and if you gave them truth serum or put a gun to their head and asked them, the answer you would get is “I just want to be a good person”. I think it’s as simple as that. You can think they’re ignorant or misguided, but I don’t think they have bad intentions- their motivation is from empathy and the golden rule. If you’re actually disturbed by trannies and wanted to sway their opinion, reciting suicide statistics isn’t going to convince them- if anything it will further entrench their beliefs. You’d have to convince them somehow that what they believe is not morally good and supporting it makes them bad. I don’t know how you’d do that, but that’s my theory
