shit take to be honest. kids get abducted from playgrounds but that doesn't mean that playgrounds are shady spots full of child traffickers. people get groomed on twitter and instagram too, you just don't get to see it since it doesn't happen in servers where tons of people can see and screencap it.
there's certainly plenty of totally degenerate content on the platform but the fact that servers are completely isolated from one another makes it hard to get swept up in that stuff if you put any effort at all into avoiding it. your perspective is just skewed because you've only seen screenshots of pedo cesspool servers and people spamming links to their intentionally sketchy shit on places like 4chan.
people don't just get groomed 24/7 in servers built around shit other than thinly veiled grooming and/or cooming
yeah, you definitely can. the big thing i'd be worried about is whether discord can support the same number of simultaneous participants that zoom can. i know for zoom you can have 30, 40+ people sharing video at once but i don't know what the limit for discord is since the most people i've ever seen at once was 4 or 5
