I'm a non-denominational agnostic spiritualist. Not exactly an atheist, but close. I believe there's a benevolent higher power, but I acknowledge this as only a belief of fancy, with no evidence and frankly no hope of evidence (unfalsifiable). But I persist in my belief nonetheless, because I believe there's nothing inherently wrong with believing improbable and unfounded conjectures just because you want to, so long as you keep that attitude out of the laboratory.
I don't go to church since I'm not Christian per se. I just believe in God; I don't pay much mind as to which.
I think there's heaven and maybe purgatory, but no hell. I would like to believe everyone goes to heaven eventually because no crime against humanity is truly irredeemable. When we see a vice as irredeemable, like mass murder of innocents or child rape, it's merely our quite understandable and excusable moral failure as flawed mortals. We see it as irredeemable because there's more harm to answer for than we can comprehend, and we therefore cannot conceive of any penalty or explanation drastic enough to answer for all of it. But God comprehends all and conceives of all. Even Hitler has gone, or will have gone, to heaven eventually.
