The French fought them constantly in the north and usually won, the Anglo-saxons had a harder time but still came out on top in the end and pushed the danish fucks back into the ocean.
I think the most difficult thing when talking about vikings is defining what exactly it is, because I was always taught that it was just a loose name for the various pirates, settlers, and roaming seafaring bandits from Scandinavia, whereas a full on invasion from a Danish or Norwegian King was different. I think most people now though just bundle them all together, which is pointless but whatever. In that case then yeah, Vikings were tough, but no tougher than the English or French so they don't deserve special mention.
As far as mongols go consider that they pushed as far west as Poland and raped, looted, and massacred almost every village and city on their way and only left because of a succession and possible civil war brewing back home. They beat the hungarians, the poles, the germans, the russians, the ukranians, the teutonic knights, everyone. The first time they failed was when the Hungarians decided to build a million castles everywhere to harrass the shit out of future invasions, and that was only after getting fucked earlier. If you want to learn about western struggles with them you should be looking up Subutai, not Ghenghis.
