does trauma build character?
like i think the psychological damage really lingers, its not like shin hardening for muay thai where it just patches up in a week
like i think dealing with trauma and mental anguish actually just creates a further capacity to feel like, like the neural connections just are setting you up to feel bad more often
i mean that's my personal experience, i don't think i'm a harder or better person for experience all the negative shit i have.
but some people live hard lives too, and they're fucking saints
stoicism is a much broader topic than what that one guy did to harden himself tho its just something i think about sometimes
like how do you get that mental fortitude these guys had. they're mentally indestructible
