But my point is that Wisdom eventually yeilds into facility in practical and worldly matters as well, and not purely to introspection, poverty and preaching, as Buddhism does.
And that's also why the Abrahamic religions thrive, because they appreciate the value of non-attachment and temperance, as well as of the material world, marriage, goals, history, family and frienships, politics, etc.
Whatever you know and believe about the world as a whole, physically and metaphysically, will effect what you do and how you feel about it. And one significant reason people are feeling unduly depressive and insane, apart from the fact that their society and jobs are suckass slavery, is that they believe that the endurance of this slavery, followed by a painful and forgettable death, for no rhyme or reason from the top of the Big Bang, on through brutal eons of pointless evolution and caveman rape, and today's endlessly demoralizing exporting of human life into technology, is all that existence is and ever will be.
The belief in existential materialistic futility, fostered by our modern world, when removed, renders basic happiness way easier. Consider changing your direction of mind, as that is what the signal of pain and depression signifies.
