I've got all my teeth but a couple are chipped and cracked, coincidentally only the ones where the dentist "fixed" caries previously. Dentists have told me I need root canal, I said just pull the tooth. Dentist then suggested I come back in a years time. This has been going on for 10 years now. They really don't want to pull it for some reason, I wonder why. Could it be the big fat payment they would get if I agreed to the root canal. It doesn't hurt at all.

Dead teeth are fine, I have 3 of them and they haven't caused me any problems for 15+ years. If you pull a tooth out however, your gum tissue very quickly starts to atrophy and sag in that spot due to lack of stimulation, and you need an implant, which takes a long time and is insanely expensive.

The problem is you don't really need a qualification to do root canals, most dentists just eyeball it without really checking whether they cleaned out the tooth properly or not, so they have like a 50% chance of getting infected again.
Proper root canals with at least an hour of work put in and done under magnification are slightly better than an implant in terms of infection resilience.
But how would one know that if you blindly trust (((Doctors))). It's a real fucked up system where people tell you "just go to [to some random] dentist" without considering that.

Can someone explain to me why a small cavity needs to be made into a huge hole before being filled? Cant they just fill the small hole?

Also whats with dentists and their love for remolding teeth? Im not necessarily against Dental work and it can be life saving, but Dentists do not feel bad at all about removing 50% of your tooth when there was onlya small problem, but its ok theyll just fill it back. Its not like that tooth was part of your body or anything.

I go to the dentist once a year. Then I have mostly 2 appointments. First one is the overall check-up and second one is cleaning and polishing each tooth. Costs me 0€
I had problems with bleeding gums a few years back. Had every tooth pocket cleaned and gum tissue treatment. But that was it. Done it once and had no bleeding gums ever since.

depends how big the damage is to the tooth/how it is broken. ive had a few teeth "bonded" which are like small chips from fighting that were fixed with a resin that is cured with a UV light for like $400-500/tooth

that sucks. I broke a tooth, maybe the filling only came out but I had a huge hole in it that I could stick my tongue in. They gave me the choice and I had it pulled, cost me 200 on 30/month dental plan. Must be a UK thing for your situation.
