Any zoomers have a likening fascination for 1990's-00s aesthetic and culture, and no I don't just mean "muh vaporwave" but more the broader atmosphere and the more obscure aspects of it. Maybe it was because the buildings in my town seem a bit dated by 30 years or so due to lack of developer interest, or because I never had cable as a kid and had to watch crappy channels, or perhaps because I always had a junky laptop and my only chance to play old vidya was the classics like Half Life but there is something very charming about the 90's. Perhaps it was because technology was just becoming cool enough to do advanced things and people were still creative. I really enjoy the music of the 90's especially (now) more obscure synth pop bands like Information Society, in which there music underproduced, melancholic, and chimey vibe is definitely from the era. I also like the anime art style at this time, like in Fruit's Basket (even though i found the show boring), the animation is very under polished and the character designs are very simple, disproportional and thus more cartoony. All of the characters are drawn in a different way, and it seems as if a person actually created them, and plus the fact not everything was HD, makes it seem very homey. The video games were also cool, like the HL series and somehow managed to balance a actually interesting, but simple story, with great gameplay that's still exciting, and of course the models polygonal nature is charming To extend on that, experimental 90's CGI with all it's weirdness and abstractness was genuinely artistic, like another world, much better than the Pixar shit it evolved too. In conclusion, I love the 90's-00s, I know the culture does not define what the time was like to those who lived in it, but I find it really cool, much better than the fucking 80's which (((Corps))) love getting people to reminisce about.
