>>13017800i didn't say that, you just have no argument which is why you had to pull that strawman from your ass. MOST houses in florida are made from lumber, rich people often make theirs "better and stronger" but in reality, it just costs more. i've built a lot of houses from concrete, even built one with foam blocks that we later had to pour concrete INTO and then it was wrapped/finished. is this shit better? nope, but rich people like to show you how smart they are by how much more money they spend on basic shit. you act like the faggots who spend $5 on coffee every morning aren't the same faggots building their house like it's a fortress. a tornado will still pick that old oak tree up and sling it through your roof all the same.
we mostly only build schools and non-residential buildings out of concrete blocks except parts of the country like central/south florida where people use concrete for "anti-hurricane homes" but in reality, those fucking flood just as bad as anything else. an inch of water can destroy a house and guess what, it's a LOT fucking harder/more expensive to fix that concrete block house than a lumber house. in the panhandle, concrete block houses are rare and they still get hurricanes, the difference is strictly the people doing the building. concrete houses have worse insulation (r value), higher cost to upkeep, higher insurance costs (even though they're not going to burn down, they will require a lot more money to upkeep and do any repairs), it's harder to find people who will even work on them, etc
they're for faggots, plain and simple, and all that extra weight (in the THOUSANDS of tons just for a city block of concrete houses vs lumber houses) just increases the chance you'll find the next sinkhole in florida.
it's stupid, it's pointless and the real threat of hurricanes is almost always the water or a tree going through a window, not the house being flattened.
