To say that the performance of the Serbian soldier during their last wars was abysmal means overrating them.
These guys were inferior to their enemies (Slovenes, Croats, Bosniaks, Kosovars) in almost every aspect and the only reason why they didn’t lose all their wars (that they had started themselves) much earlier was that they had all the heavy weapons of the former Yugoslav military.
Slovenes, Croats, Bosniaks, and especially the Kosovars started fighting the Serbian military with almost nothing in their hands and, after initial heavy losses, all of them prevailed.
The Serbian soldier was unmotivated, badly disciplined, and almost always avoided a fight when the numbers on the battlefield were equal. In addition to this, many units took revenge on the enemy’s civilian population after they had sustained losses.
There is no serious military expert in the world who has ever expressed the tiniest bit of respect for the Serbian soldier. On the other hand, Croatian military operations like “Oluja” (Operation Storm) are still taught in many Western military academies as examples of good strategy, planning, and execution.
Although this question is about the Serbian soldier and not their military leadership, a few words about them must be said:
The complete General staff of the Serbian Armed Forces was a bunch of criminals, not unlike the OKW (Oberkommando der Wehrmacht), Hitler’s General High Command during the Second World War. They planned and executed mass murders and genocide.
If soldiering means fighting with honor, then the members of the Serbian military do not even deserve to be called soldiers.
not only this but they their "history" is them claiming other countries historical figures as theirs, some retarted Serbs claim skanderberg was a Serb not albanian.
