My interpretation of Gnosticism based on the texts of the Nag Hammadi Library is quite grim.
It sounds like we're stuck in a tomb (the body) and a prison of darkness.
And all of the "gods", demons and angels who make up two sides of a grand conflict appear to be working with each other rather than against each other.
While we suffer as pawns and audience members in their twisted game.
Overly optimistic NPCs (most of the world's population) like to ridicule people who think this way as being irrationally negative.
But is it irrational?
With consideration to entropy, decay, survival of the fittest, and death itself, this reality is factually awful.
In order for me to survive I have to consume other living beings, and yes plants are living beings too, dumb vegans.
There's no way to not participate in the vicious cycle.
Last week my mom's cousin was in a car accident. Her cousin and her husband are both dead and there's nothing anyone can say to comfort each other. It's just Hell.

if I'm lucky I'll live until I'm 80....so that I get to watch all of my loved ones wither away and die too.
It'll be great frens....just great...
