over-engineered won't sell. But i think that story that starts simple and then gets more complicated could work.
That being said, having message and all is nice but i'm a slave to a rule of cool. There is plot and then there is the core idea that to some degree plays the second fiddle. Perhaps not universally but dull stuff is dull. Commenting different philosophies? Great but i also want incantations, rituals, backstabbings etc.
What do you think about the story that in retrospect goes along one railway with no possibly for divergence?
