>>13232704Nah, it was self performed. The commercial estimates are pretty fucky, but you can't lie with a simple genetic distance to population test. I would run my DNA through an algorithm that breaks it up into 10 or so "components" that I can use to map my coordinates to other people, mainly reference populations. I know exactly where the african bit is, and it just won't go away no matter how I look at it. I also can check the shared segments I have with other people, and they have it in the same place, same signature and everything. This isn't something you hand over to a scientist, just a file of the raw SNP calls that I plug in and compare to other groups.
Main reason I did it was because I didnt trust commercial websites, I wanted to know myself. It doesn't bother me too much because it's like 0.3% native and 0.5% African, but it makes me think sometimes.
Also I can tell you this, just based on what I know through genetic studies that Ive read and all the genetic stuff Ive done, race unambigously exists. Dont ever listen to them for a moment, there are clearly definable genetic populations and europeans all fall 95-100% within a very distinct and unique western eurasia signature. The ones with less than 100% have very clear admixture from people from completely different groups, like north africa in spain or italy. It's absolutely not a sliding scale, there are cut and dry populations which did not kix for a very long time.
