The Jedi are necessary and good for the Star Wars universe.
Brainlets just accept that as the rule because it is stated to be. Then you get midwits who meme the grey jedi, not understanding what "balance" means in the Eastern sense of the word (the origins of Star Wars philosophy). They want to be able to use sith powers and do whatever they want but still be considered "good guys". Basically the equivalent of saying "i'll use heroin, responsibly though". Then you get the nearly enlightened people who think the Sith are good because they're Nietzschean Übermensch who do whatever they want. However this is mistaken, because as you can see they just end up killing eachother and making everything shitty because they ONLY care about power, and not about anything else. Finally you come to realize that because of the axioms of the Star Wars universe, namely the existence of the force, the Jedi are necessary. If there's a power that randomly makes men into veritable Gods, you want the few who hold that power to be as stoic and free from desire as possible. The existence of failed Jedi only reinforces the necessity of Jedi as a whole.

The whole jedi religion had a very buddhist origin. It was about preserving this gift and communing with the natural world around you in order to live harmoniously alongside it. The more structured and traditional that it became, the more dissidents began to appear.
The story of the force is just one big allusion to the major religions of our reality.
It started off with the intent of improving the individual but inevitably decays into this religious war because each succeeding generation of teachers progressively diluted the essence of the teachings into dogma and tradition.

this pretty much sums it up. Balance is the key for Jedi, whereas most sith do not necessarily have that same restriction. The very good Jedi have a deep understanding of the Sith yet remain firmly on the side of the Jedi because they recognize balance - whereas the sith deal in absolutes

No. The Jedi are operating within the rules of the universe and they are correct within those rules. The force exists, and using the dark side is corrupting, therefore they MUST avoid the dark side at all. Balance does not mean "equal light and dark users", that's the Western concept of balance. A polluted river is "out of balance" with nature, a clean one is in balance.

You are either misapplying, or misunderstanding Kreia. She did not want some Grey Jedi "scale balancing" of the two, she wanted to destroy the Force so that people could be free. She was a deconstruction of the universe, not some Hegelian synthesis of jedi and sith.

You can agree with Kreia's goals and still recognize that if the Force cannot be destroyed that the Jedi are necessary. It's two separate issues.

I don't think Kreia really wanted the death of the Force.
I think she just used it as a threat to set up events that led to all jedi and sith (including herself) dying out, leaving only the Exile and her companions to rebuild the Jedi Order without previous corruption and dogma.
All of them knew life outside of the jedi and none of them received formal training, meaning they were not affected by entrenched mindsets of the old order.

I only watched the old movies when I was a kid/young teen, but I have it fundamentally etched into my brain that the sith were more respectable than the jedi.
And that's coming from someone who has since gone hermeticist.
I can't remember why and I'm not planning to rewatch those movies, but fuck the jedi, I remember their balance was one of false pretenses, much like the peacekeepers of the UN.

He claimed that his allegiance was to the Republic instead of the Force.
