It's not a suicide cult, at least not yet.
The idea is that if you sign up you get to know the system you'll end up in and you'll get to keep your memories. If you don't sign up you'll just shatter and reincarnate somewhere with no memory. You can die whenever.
So it follows that since you get to keep your memories you should really go make some nice ones and not rush out from Life. There's a lot to see here.
And it's probably not true anyways.
