>>13356535basically nothing. an eceleb i watch basically just said "this is in my top 5 manga experiences of all time but i would not describe that experience as a 'good' one. it's a very depressing coming of age story" then talked for a bit about how great the art is and his appreciation for how flawlessly punpun manages to fit in with the otherwise very realistic art style.
if anything the depression aspect of it all seems a bit oversold to be honest. it has some moments here and there of course, but generally the story seems to focus more on the relentlessness of mental strain rather than the depths of it which doesn't really match up with this idea i keep hearing that people are bawling at every chapter.
like in the end i've only come out of a chapter thinking "oh god oh fuck oh shit" 2 or 3 times so far and really only one has felt particularly impactful long term. usually it's more the fact that i end up thinking "oh man here it comes" 50 chapters in a row that is a lot more impactful in my opinion, but that gets deflated a bit when people only really hype up the grandiose moments that do happen
even moreso surprised at this given that i thought instagram bait was all dj soda did
