>>13356319I accidently turned off my ad-block one time and was on facebook, suddenly the facebook i had known all my life was littered with ads on the left and right side columns of the page no matter what page i was on, if i accidently clicked i was taken to a new site from that ad, there was no room to click on the page so i could use my keyboards down arrow to scroll the page while the window was active.
i quickly turned adblock back on and refreshed the page and went back to my "normal".
the next week i saw my parents and they were on the pc (rare) and i saw how their google looks, and youtube, it was fucking horrific, ads all over even on google, youtube ads on the site, and like 5 60 sec+ long video ads before you can watch a main video (they didnt click skip ad button either, they just let it play and waited) i told them "click skip ad" but they ignored me.
I just made a post about ads. For me, old internet was this, no ads. Pages were better too, more optimized and better lay-out, easy to navigate.
Websites all had their identity and filled the niche. No one fought or had culture wars as much as now. Everywhere had a place, you had fun.
