The matrix was a critique on Internet use and addition. The original draft literally had people harvested for their brainpower rather than as an energy source.

The transition nonsense was a story created by the directors 15 years after the movies came out since they both transitioned.

Those trannies ripped the plot off from someone else. I think it was a short story I dont remember. But they got lucky with the first Matrix and like the showrunners of Game of Thrones fucked everything up after they didn't have a real writer's work to adapt. The sequels and everything else they've ever done has sucked and in a desperate bid for relevance just like J.K. Rowling declaring every Harry Potter character gay they declared it about being trans even though the source material was just a sci fi story they ripped off.

In a sense breaking free from the lie of the matrix and achieving gnosis is about self discovery and acceptance. But it doesn't have to be about being transgender in fact that theme is not present at all you want a movie like that make it about that then don't change movies that already exist.

Mainly Neuromancer, plus half a dozen or so inspirations, but the plot and the surrounding lore was paper-thin and not really the point. The original Matrix took 5 years and a shitton of work, including a 600 page scene by scene storyboard by professional comic book artists. The wire and camerawork, bullet time, CGI and practical effects were all on the Wachowskis.
And then they had to cobble together the sequels back to back in 2 years.
