There's no reason not to be in shape & know how to fight, as well as know how to use & carry a gun.

Saw a video once where some old guy was held up by a nog with a gun, and he gave the nog his wallet.
Nog turns and runs, oldster pulls a gun and shoots him in the back, then retrieves his wallet.

Not sure how the courts ruled on that one, if it were me on the jury, the old guy would have walked.
