https://www.quora.com/Is-Yuri-Bezmenov-a-fraudThere is a mirror image of Bezmenov’s conspiracy in modern Russia, named “Dulles’ plan”: Dulles' Plan. It has a fictional literature source and have no relation to real Allen Dulles. And, probably, Bezmenov took his inspiration from the same source.
Bezmenov himself was not in high enough position to have access to the top secret documents, as he claimed: Boris Ivanov's answer to How high ranked was Yuri Bezmenov in the KGB? But! He was a journalist, he knew how to write/say something that sounds convincing.
I don't know how popular were Bezmenov's writings in 1980s, but after the collapse of USSR someone played the same card in Russia itself. "Dulles' plan" was first published on February, 20 of 1993 by Metropolitan Ioann of St. Peterburg and Ladoga, an extremely right-wing person. He claimed that according to "Dulles' plan" and "The Protocols of the Elders of Zion"(I'm not joking!) the West is behind the total ideological war against Russia. Later, in July of 1993 the same text was published in "Molodaya Gvardiya" magazine, under the authorship of Boris Oleynik(Borys Oliinyk in Ukrainian), a dedicated Ukrainian communist, who was one of the founders of the Communist Party of Ukraine. As you can easily guess, the purpose of this conspiracy was to boost nationalism in post-Soviet countries. Both left-wing and right-wing politicians fall for this conspiracy and cited it in 1990s.
