If you're a niche personality, you're looking for other niche personalities. Seeing as atomisation is an intentional module of technocratic rule, it's bound to be challenging. If I was looking for meatspace friends to do things with right now I wouldn't know where to begin. I was blessed in that regard, but my network is still very thin. Often, you have to be born into the right situation to sustain lifelong real friendships. Born in a prosperous town, to an established family, and you make friends with the children of other established families, and you spend your lives reflecting on how great it is to enjoy such security. Used to be you could travel from town to town and maybe build such a place and make friends that way. Maybe sometime soon we'll be able to again.
