I cant maintain more eye contact than occasional glances. And i cant think of anything to say to close huge gaps of silence as i come up with something.

very, i used to be an untalkative book nerd until hanging out and shooting the shit with rednecks opened me up. another decade of studying people helped me to understand and interact with them, even catching a few people off guard with light hearted jokes.
it's a skill that can be improved with time, but you have to actually work at it.

I feel fine talking to people. I don't like talking about personal stuff, even with friends. If they ask, I won't lie to them, but I'm not going to be initiating those conversations. I'm at my peak when I have to explain technical details at school or work because it feels like work paying off.

I'm fine with talking to women and men. I don't enjoy it though. The only people I like talking to are my immediate family, or my few close friends that I've known for 10+ years.

I think it's because I work in a field where I have to talk to strangers at length everyday, hence why in my free time I get no joy from it, because it reminds me of work.

If I have to talk to a stranger, for work related reason, I far prefer talking to older people, 50 and above, rather than people in my own age group, or close thereto.
Whilst I am fine with talking to women, as far as flirting goes I don't really understand things all that well. I've had at least three women, who I thought hated me, later admit that they had a thing for me. So maybe I'm slightly autistic, who knows.

I'm convinced I have pretty bad autism. When I try to make eye contact with someone in a conversation I'll start sweating and shaking until I look elsewhere. Another annoying thing is that my inner monologue is fluid and articulate, but when I try to speak it's usually nothing but "umm"s and "uhh"s and autistic pauses. Something that helps me a lot with this is imagining someone I know to be well-spoken (like a professor i've had or something) saying what I want to say, and emulating their mannerisms. Basically to not come off as a bumbling autist I have to watch and then emulate other people's behaviour.
