ADD is real. It's not really an attention disorder, but a motivation disorder. Brain scans show that circuits in the hippocampus light up when a neurotypical person is presented with the idea of a long-term persuit, while they don't on a person with ADD/ADHD. This means that ADD-kids wont do their homework on time and so on because their brains are not wired to plan ahead.

In my mind, this boils down to the following: There are two kinds of people. Farmers and hunters. Farmers are great at planning and thinking ahead. They know how much of their potatoes they can eat every day for the next of the year and how much they need to save in order to plant it in the spring. Their survival hinges on being able to follow through on big projects.

Then there are the hunters. Often late on bills, generally messy, but much better than the farmers at situations. They can think fast, and they can focus heavily on the steps of a process. So it's not really that they have an illness, more that they are wired differently.

With that said, ADD/ADHD is heavily over diagnosed. Failed parents seek medical help so they don't need to face their failure, and corrupt doctors are happy to prescribe the most expensive medication available to any kid that falls behind for whatever reason. These people are scum
