For most new boards yes, because at this point it's more like a forced meme than actual culture.

Older boards had been around a long time before the idea of a tan came up, so it was much easier to say "Hey we should add X and Y from our board's culture and make the tan Z as a reference to this frequent topic." and have everyone think it makes sense--rather than basically just debating over which OC to use.

/wsr/ managed to do theirs very quickly, because a lot of people liked the witch idea. /his/ had a rocky start but came to a majority consensus, /aco/ was a complete shitstorm that I don't think was every actually resolved, just given up on.

I am not deciding the design. It's a collaborative effort. We made decisions based on support, but mostly the polls. If anything, it's drawfags that have to put the design to paper. All I did was make a thread, and I felt the most recent ones would be best.

That way if, for instance, a drawfag wants to draw /c/ with her hair up in pigtails (as board tans do end up drawn in alternate outfits and hairstyles) there isn't an issue of not knowing who is who.

Just came by to remind you, /aco/ had a shitstorm a long time ago because they kept fighting over the "real" design, they ended up with a dozen different designs being pushed at the same time which went nowhere.

What I am trying to say is to keep the project collaborative and not just one guy doing all the work, you won't be able to please everybody but it will help with avoiding the above, references can work either through design or characterization so try to keep it simple for your own sake

However we cannot ignore those who do want a /bant/- tan, and through the last few threads we have been continuously asking for input, suggestions, discussion, etc, which we have gotten. None of this was a "fuck you were doing whatever" thing, people suggested ideas, some put it to paper, we're (the Dane, Pole, Puerto Rican, drawfags and others) are trying to compile this into one thing, so we don't have a jumbled mess.

I just wanted to say few things, I've been thinking for a while now and came to few conclusions. I decided that I should stay away from the topic of changing her, from these threads and from /bant/-tan even as an idea. I want to thank 2 people especially that I think contributed the most to making this real. The americanon that has written the whole "/bant/ Kingdom" thing as well as some others like cause of friendship between Bantanna and Keksandra, you are the most creative man I have ever met on interwebz, and Argentinian drawfag that was patient enough to make someteen prototypes of her looks (yes I know that this will surely change, but still, you are great man). I think we've had some really productive and insightful discussions about this these last few days. If we keep having threads like these once in a while we'll eventually reach a consensus.

However, any decision we'd make right now would be rushed. We should take time to explore our options and test different things rather than just going with whatever has the most (You)s at the moment. If it was that easy we could've made a decision several times by now.
