>>13571790It's a rabbit hole for sure, and no amount of education on safe drinking habits will keep a new drinker from just getting shitfaced over and over again lulz. That's how it feels to me, at least. I know Germans at Oktoberfest find young Americans to be the absolute worst, since they've usually just turned 21 and haven't been eased into the world of alcohol, so they end up getting shitfaced, which isn't what Oktoberfest is about. Then again, that's just what I've heard through the grapevine, so take it with a grain of salt.
>like the devil beckoning meI wouldn't say it's like a devil, really. It can be just as enjoyable as a nice soda or tea if you take it in moderation. That's the major thing though: moderation. I know I know, so many people preach moderation and/or abstinence, but it's pretty key. The CDC defines excessive drinking as having 15 or more drinks a week.
A drink, in this instance, is defined as either 12 oz of beer (a regular can, basically), 5 oz of wine, or 1.5 oz of hard liquor. So there's definitely some leeway here to avoid going over that threshold.
Sorry I'm rambling so much Bumstead.
