It's very clear that we are not saved by works, as we are unable to meet God's standards no matter how hard we try. Instead, we are given the gift of forgiveness a substitute who IS perfect, and who WILL advocate on our behalf, if we have faith in Him and enter into a trusting relationship with Him.
> Ephesians 2:8-9"For by grace you have been saved through faith. And this is not your own doing; it is the gift of God, not a result of works, so that no one may boast."
> Matthew 7:21-23“Not everyone who says to me, ‘Lord, Lord,’ will enter the kingdom of heaven, but the one who does the will of my Father who is in heaven. On that day many will say to me, ‘Lord, Lord, did we not prophesy in your name, and cast out demons in your name, and do many mighty works in your name?’ And then will I declare to them, ‘I never knew you; depart from me, you workers of lawlessness.’"
> John 3:16“For God so loved the world, that he gave his only Son, that whoever believes in him should not perish but have eternal life."
> Galatians 2:16"Yet we know that a person is not justified by works of the law but through faith in Jesus Christ, so we also have believed in Christ Jesus, in order to be justified by faith in Christ and not by works of the law, because by works of the law no one will be justified."
