It's going to be different for everyone, anon. First and foremost you must reasses and rearrange your values, decide what really matters to you, and then seek those things out. Secondly, break the hypnosis of money, which is to say don't think of money as the only means to your ends. If your values go beyond the material, which they should, this will be easier than you think. You also need to stop caring at all what other people think. Social approval is a powerful cage, but once you stop seeking that even money becomes an easier master. Who cares of people disagree with you, are even disgusted with you?
Personally I bought a small house on a few acres of land. I have no neighbors. My wife stays at home with our baby and we do what we can do use our land and reduce costs wherever. I still have a job, but we are poor. It's okay. Nothing brings more joy to me than my baby and my wife, and when I wake up I feel free and safe. It's not what everyone would want, but I took the risk and made sacrifices to pursue what matters most to me. Maybe in the future we'll take it even further. I'd love to build a cob house someday, become fully self-suataining, etc.
tl;dr stop slaving for the system and only use it to pursue things that matter to you.
