Let's suppose that you're going for a /nightwalk/ in your usual attire, feeling quite comfortable with your solitude in the brisk night air when you hear a rustling in the bushes (or clattering of loose concrete, if urban) and turn to see the creature pictured staring at you with a detached, alien malice and tensing as if it's disgusted or about to lunge. What would your default, go-to response be to something so far outside of the conventional human experience? Would you fight, flee, or freeze at the sight? How do you think you would go about it? Say you saw it pounce on someone in the distance and impale them with a hidden proboscis but you managed to escape. What would your thought process be, and how would you cope with the memory of what you witnessed?
