Dialect of the language has little to do with the pronunciation of the word. It is locked into cultural and regional customs more than speech itself.
Some people even insist on saying it as aluminium here in the US as a way to reject their own culture and embrace one they perceive as being more sophisticated and intelligent.
People doing this are usually very unintelligent.. but I digress.
It is a cultural preference more than a pure difference in dialectic speech.
