It usually isn’t advisable to buy .925 silver for the purpose of investing unless you can acquire it for well under spot price.

If JMBullion is having issues these days I may switch to SDBullion. They’re Christians, after all and their premiums seem reasonable usually.

Why not? There are many .925 coins. And you can always jewelry and silverware to the refiner.

.925 coins is different; those would probably be fine just like 90% “junk” is. But for things like jewelry or lockets or tableware, .925 silver tends to get low-balled when selling. Bullion dealers don’t like the headache of either purifying it into .999 or trying to sell tableware. They’re in the bullion business, not the tableware business.

That's why you get couple kilos of silver scrap and send it to the refiner. But average purchase price must be well below spot to break even. Plus you can waste money on useless crap made of german silver.
Refiner will send it back to you in form of .999 bars. In Poland it costs about 4 USD to refine ounce of silver from scrap.

Agreed, that’s why I said it isn’t worth buying up .925 (with the exception of coins) as an investment unless, exactly as you said, it’s priced well below spot.

I’m not going to buy a silver pitcher or forks personally unless Im at a yard sale or flea market and I can get it for ~$12/oz or less. It isn’t worth the headache otherwise; I’d rather just order more 90% junk or .999 online.

Pawn shops, bro. Prices vary but if you find one who has silver and usually doesn't deal with that type of customer, youll get some good deals. There is one i need to go visit again i ran into for S&Gs. Walked out with a roll of mercs at $1.75 each and an ASE for $30. I think spot was 22-23 at the time

Though I like First Majestic as a company, their premium is a little high, I've bought around 600 ounces in the past month at only about $2.50-3 over spot. I did pick up 20 oz from AG just as the gesture and do recommend holding a stake in the company itself. I'd rather see/recommend people buy a larger volume of silver overall than directly from first majestic for $5 over spot

About a month ago. I went gun shopping with my brother that day so we were in and out of pawn shops. I didnt have any cash on me which sucked. If i knew how cheap he was i would have dropped some money there. The ASEs are so cheap cause he had someone pawn a monster box and they never made payments. I assume his silver supply is being liquidated since he typically deals with crack heads with stolen tools and broke down scooters all day. Coins dont seem like his normal stock.

Just put in an order for 1oz random rounds at SD Bullion because I saw that they weren't going to be shipping them out until October 31. I had been thinking of getting more 10oz bars, but since it seems like the rounds are getting scarce I opted for those instead.

Seems like various bullion dealers are having supply issues that they are trying to keep quiet for now. I truly feel that within the next few days there will be some announcement or big event that will have everyone scrambling to buy out the rest of easily available retail stock. Silver is already rallying and it wouldn't take much for the normies to really tip the scales soon. I actually hope that doesnt happen quite yet so I can make my personal stacking goals while silver is still cheap, but I won't be mad either if it goes above $30 soon.

I guess, but I really dont understand it. The wholeseller I sell to pays me 97% spot for scrap gold. Thats a lot of money they put up for small profit margins.

Circa 2010-2012, every corner started looking like pic related, begging for gold and silver.
Only though the lens of history did I start to wonder how they made a profit, then ask how they didn't lose their ass, then why they existed to begin with.
I'm speculating they were chains of companies (much like the 'we'll buy your house!! flyers today) that'd gouge sellers who were on hard times and entice junkies and thieves. Then when prices bombed, they kept a small enough inventory to not be terribly affected, then moved on to their next scam.
