people generally speaking seem to think all norwegians are born with silver spoons in their mouth but people fail to take into consideration that everything in norway is ridiculously overpriced. if you measure by income, we have slightly higher income than americans but everything here is more expensive so you end up having a slightly lower standard of living but of course it depends very heavily on your life and what you choose to spend money on because things are taxed very differently. things like cars are heavily taxed because they "hurt the environment", things like tobacco and alcohol are heavily taxed because theyre "bad for you"
people in general are very neurotic and oversocialized, either you go to a bar and meet people to whom these words might as well be greek, or you go to some champagne socialist party and get called a nazi racist because theyre smart enough to realize these opinions are a dog whistle for knowing how the world really works, of course they know too, but theyre smart enough to pretend to give a fuck about immigrants and poor people while at the same time supporting policies that fuck over both of those groups of people. funnily enough the people i get along with the best are criminals, drug dealers, drug addicts, neets and working class people
