>>13704882I think people generally are a lot more interesting than they are given credit for, given the opportunity. For example, I went to a BLM rally to argue with negroes about how they were wrong, and everyone I know IRL who heard about this was extremely surprised when I told them I was in no danger. Everyone knows if you behave very angrily, you will make an animal uncomfortable. People are animals too. When I went to the rally, even when the negroes tried to get hostile and escalate, I acted kindly, and as though nothing was wrong, and they had trouble getting too angry, even though they did not like the things I was saying.
When I play video games against other players, I very much enjoy behaving in a positive manner because toxic players invariably get more hostile, or on realizing you don't have a problem with them, they will feel silly and start acting very nicely, in mutual respect.
I have done nothing wrong to Reimu, at any point in time. She herself admits her problem with me is that I remark on things that make her feel ashamed, and does her own mental acrobatics to take them as an insult. I have no ill-will towards her. I remark on qualities of her character from time to time because I think they are interesting. Her toxic responses to my own neutral attitude contrast starkly with her attempts to project herself as a positive person. The way she responds to my genuine kindness and helpful advice with bitter hostility, and her ignoring posts that don't criticize her at all if she even suspects I am responsible, occasionally ignoring other Canadians, all out of unreasonable spite. I just think that kind of thing is really wonderful.
And as an added bonus, you can see how she responds to people who ARE actually straight up hostile and nasty to her. She will try to win them over sometimes, even as they say far meaner things to her, and with far meaner intentions than I have ever had. So it clearly isn't being a dick that bothers her.
