Can someone explain to me how this stupid basedjack meme triggered the mods so much?

>Deletes /qa/ and proceeds to ban people posting basedjack.

I am not trying to defend the mods or spammers, I just want to know what the deal is. Because this drama is stupid and is getting worse from progressive overreaction. The whole site will be full of ACK posters if they keep escalating the drama.
