Unfortunately, while you are supposed to be able to ride your motorcycle with your written test done, you usually cannot because most insurance companies won't insure a motorcycle rider on the M1 level license (called different things in different provinces)

The motorcycle course will teach you how to ride a motorcycle from scratch, they have bikes there for you to use.
At the end of the 2-3 day course they will do a little riding test and you will get your Second level motorcycle license.
Now an insurance company can insure you and your bike and you can ride after you register the bike.
Finally there is the full motorcycle license. It's a simple road test. You can go through another course to get it, but most of the time you're comfortable enough on the bike after the waiting period you can just do it.
