Construction aside, in the long term, a traditional building requires little to no maintenance. New buildings on the other hand require frequent maintenance. Cleaning the glass exterior is expansive in and of itself.
It gets even worse when you look at the energy bill. A traditional building doesn't require much to heat or cool. All glass buildings, even if triple glazed, require an unholy amount to sustain the interior climate.
