You know, whenever I ask people why they think rape is illegal or why it should be they always either say something about infringing on the victim's freedom or "because it isn't consented". Usually however, it takes a lot of time for them to think about it. First off, laws are limits to freedom and illegalizing rape is technically just such a limit. It can't be both good and bad. Second, sex without consent is the definition of rape, not the reason why we have it illegalized to begin with. You know, back in the day this question would have bern given a straight forward answer: because it ruins the persons innocence/purity. Both are terms which, I think, many people deem to be backwards and wrong by many people today, I don't know why, maybe they got hit in the head or something... What do you think /qant/bros?
