>Touhou means a lot to me. While nowadays it's one of those highly commercial niche things in the same vein as Fate, back then, learning about Touhou felt like joining a secret society. For a good portion of my teenage years, Touhou was my life. There was so much to see, both from official media and fan stuff, that it made it easy to bury myself in the depths of everything it had to give. I already was into bullet hell, so it was an perfect fit. It was also my first time joining an online community and connecting with people who shared my interest in the franchise. You could say that in the same way that the games themselves put you in a flow state, the process of learning more and more about the characters, the lore, the more obscure media, the fanworks, the memes, the community... It all evoked that kind of feeling as well.
Well, going back to playing Crimzon Clover and Ikaruga on the Gamecube.
