>>13861383>We always scare children and adults by other things to make some limits to what's acceptable and what's not. Usually not by implanting irrational beliefs about a power that noone actually knows whether it exists. Ideas of punishment in secular societies are much more grounded.
The ideal way of teaching a child is to make them aware of a set of consequencess that results from their actions. If you need a quick and lazy way, just tell them that you'll immediately punish him if he fucks up.
>Also how often do you meet a child of religious parents who looks traumatized by hell or divine punishment? Most christians go through phases of enormous guilt deeply rooted in the beliefs they have inherited. Religion is the ultimate guilt tripper, and if God's words are not sufficient, it will be reinforced by your friends, family and church, too.
Not to mention that it appears that religious people seem to struggle more with an existential crisis when abandoning their religion and becoming atheists, than atheists do in their lifetime.
>He's also the source of alot of modern western leftist concepts and ideas like socialismOh cool, another reason to just get rid of religion!
But seriously, religion might have had some couple of good aspects to it that might have helped society in the long run in the last couple of centuries or millenia, but our moral compasses have far surpassed those times.
I don't want a homosexual person to feel guilty for existing, or a young teenager feel like human trash for having sex outside of marriage.
Luckily, religion is secularizing itself to abstractness.
It's won't be "I go to church" or "I follow the bible", it will just become "Uhh, yeah. I just believe in a creator. That's all.".
Finally, keep in mind that, while Germany has some very conservative places, they are nothing compared to how religion is handled in most deep-red American states, and I am assuming DM2525 is American.
