That won't happen. Why would they go outside? They'd just either accept slower internet on their favourite websites and not change at all, or just go towards more mainstream websites that pay their fees.

If the internet becomes limited it just means that the 4 cable companies can curate what you visit. They can throttle small online businesses, forcing them to pay for booster services. They could throttle ANY website that doesn't directly pay them.

now why do you think people would change their habits and "go outside" as you say? You're the first one to pose a hypothesis the burden of proof falls on YOU first since you're the one to do this.

If a person's life is Tumblr for example, and let's say Tumblr doesn't organize deals with at least 3 of the major American Cable suppliers to ensure fast data access for their users, and let's say its so slow that it detracts form the experience. Why would they not just seek an Ersatz service like Facebook, or another microblogging platform that IS faster?
