How do I Know? Been in one for nearly 20 months. Sponsored by FEMA and run by the Salvation Army. They are coast to coast. It was a Hotel. Now is listed as transitional housing. I have a chronic illness and the city rounded all of us up out of the shelters and put us in hotels. First there were 8 with one for quarenteen. Now is down to two and one for quarenteen. About five hundred rooms.
City figured that it was cheaper than paying for hospital beds each time we got sick. Had covid and delta already and been double vaxed. No booster. Been a good run and suppose to end in june. Hard for disabled to get subsidized housing because most mexicans qualify for the programs because of income restrictions. You have to wait almost two years on lists to get housing. As people die in the apartments we get opportunities that we normally would not get.
It is limiting but not that bad. Food sucks. The staff that remains are all cool. Hive us everything including toilet paper, free internet and new cloths. Socialism at work.
