the silent panel in the original has no function. it doesn't make sense. if you want to tell someone to be silent, you'd usually do it immediately after they speak. for extra emphasis, you could even interrupt them mid sentence. this comic could be cut down to three or even two panels, and it would deliver the same joke to a better effect
