Not sure how this works in European countries, but there is no sense of community at all in urban and suburban America. The only sense of belonging people have in those areas is with political parties which is one of the biggest reasons why our government is so dysfunctional.
The only places that have some semblance of community are in rural areas, but those people are just as trashy (maybe more so) and they're increasingly getting fucked over economically.
I don't know one person who is happy with the status quo.
