Realistically speaking an M4, AK-47, or FN-FAL would do more damage per shot. But the lasgun is unrivaled in ammo capacity so I think it js around 50-200 shots per battery, and you also see gaurdsman squads of 10 to 1000+ firing simultaneously at only a handful of enemies in most cases.
